While riding the 2 train I'm on my way to my first set of courses at Borough of Manhattan Community College. During the route on this train I discover two evident realities: The Tales of Two Cities and The Silent Minority. A trip from 233rd Street to Chambers Street is a long enough train ride for any critical thinker to see these two emerge. Some mean scolds and cold shoulders didn't make things better. Luckily, some "game" was told to people that were in my transitional position.
The outlet that this form of "game" came through was my first English (ENG) professor Jill Richardson. In her ENG 95 class you could keep it real. From police brutality to dietary substance were discussed raw and to the bone. looking back I always thanked God for this professor in particular. Her knowledge ran steep and her approach was right to the point.
Walking pass or sitting next to media executives and Wall Street bankers became a new form of exist. Feeling the leaves hit your shoulders and inhaling the autumn air one may ask themselves is this all worth it?
